The very best of country and village life was on display at Castleton Show this weekend.

Hundreds of produce and handicraft entries from local residents filled the marquee from lemon drizzle cakes, to handmade quilts and model aqauriums.

Castleton’s cutest dogs had a ball at the dog show, vintage vehicles were on display and youngsters squealed with delight at traditional children’s games such as the egg and spoon race, three-legged and wheelbarrow races.

Various stalls selling baked goods, crafts, gifts and food also filled the cricket field.

The show also hosts Castleton Show Run, which is a 10k road race around Dibble Bridge, Hob Hole and Westerdale. It is organised by North York Moors Athletics Club and this year saw more than 70 people taking part.
