Whitby’s newest bar has opened its doors after being more than two years in the making.
Recently named, House of Memento Mori, the bar on Grape Lane, comes from the team behind Valhalla York.
They have renovated what was a former ironmongers, wood and DIY store on Grape Lane and created a Gothic and Georgian themed bar with real ale, craft beer and ciders served to a backdrop of rock and roll music.
A spokesperson for House of Memento Mori said: “It’s been a long road to get here. In January 2024 we first walked into 6 Grape Lane.
“Standing proud down the middle of one of the oldest streets in Old Town we saw a wealth of potential. A beautiful Grade II listed building in some desperate need of love and care – and a new lease of life. Well the place has certainly got that now.”
