Popular Heartbeat Vehicle Rally has helped drive funds for two local causes.

One of Heartbeat’s star guests and actors, Sean Blowers, who also appeared in television series London’s Burning for ten years from 1986 to 1996, handed over the funds to volunteer on-call crew manager Jack Atkinson.

Following last weekend’s annual event in Goathland, the organisers have announced they have been able to donate £1,200 of the profits back to the village.

This week, cheques for £600 each were handed over to Goathland Primary School and also to Goathland’s volunteer fire station.

Meanwhile, Goathland Primary pupils got the chance to sit in one of the classic cars which featured in Heartbeat.

Actors David Lonsdale, Ryan Early and Vanessa Hehir who played characters David Stockwell, PC Tom Nicholson and Rosie Cartwright respectively were also on hand to meet fans of the show and the vehicles.
