Sleights C of E Primary has become the only school in North Yorkshire to have been recognised for excellence in history provision.
The school, on Ingham Close, has been awarded the Historical Association Quality Mark, an award which recognises the excellence of history provision in a school.
The Quality Mark assesses and values the history provision of the teacher, their department, the school and what is being offered to young people.
It also provides a framework for success in which to develop an outstanding provision of history for a school.
Head teacher Scott Grason-Taylor said: “The children are very proud of the award and love weaving history into other areas of their learning such as drama.”
