Streets around Whitby were turned into film sets today for filming of what is tipped to be an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Tales of the Unexpected.

Crews took over the market place, old Church Street and Sandgate areas. The Old Town Hall was made to look like a theatre and Rumours gift shop was transformed from its quaint exterior to Connie’s Gifts with footballs, inflatables and buckets and spades for sale.

The production brought a large entourage of runners, make-up, lighting and camera crew which filled Bridge Street and the Church Street car park.

It follows filming in Saltburn recently where actresses Dame Imelda Staunton and Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan were spotted in costume.
